Jeff Newman Southern Lights, Northern Cross Photograph Collection, 1978-2004

The photographs in this collection document blues, rock and country musicians performing in Austin and Houston, Texas between 1978 –1998, politicians and public figures (G.W. Bush, Bill Clinton, the Dalai Lama) in various cities in the United States, as well as landscapes, buildings and other aspects of the environment in Houston and Galveston. Also included are campaign photographs of George W. Bush and Governor Rick Perry from 2004, a John Kerry rally, and images of troops returning from Iraq, two being greeted by their wives and one at his funeral.

B.B. King was born Riley B. King Sept. 16, 1925 in Itta Bena, MS. He got the nickname "Beale Street Blues Boy", later shortened to "Blues Boy", and finally to B.B. while working as a disc jokey.
